Dr. Surabhi Madan presented cases of infective endocarditis, coronary stent infections, and pacemaker site infections at CIDSCON 2025, the 15th Annual Conference of the Clinical Infectious Diseases Society, organised from September 11–14, held at NCPA – National Centre for Performing Arts, Nariman Point, Mumbai. These are among the most difficult and challenging infections an infectious diseases consultant comes across.
These infections are associated with various challenges, ranging from the treatment of culture-negative infections to the management of complications such as embolisation, immunological organ damage, and heart failure.
Further complicating the situation is the need to get rid of the infected foreign body, be it a stent, a pacemaker, or a prosthetic valve. The multidrug-resistant nature of organisms associated with healthcare-associated infections makes it even more difficult to successfully deal with these cases.
Dr. Surabhi Madan also chaired sessions on:
- Prophylaxis in solid organ transplant
- Treatment of skin and skin structure infections
